Cade Allen House
The home at 250 Mirror Lake was designed and constructed in 1937 by prominent St. Petersburg builder Cade Allen, who was known for his distinctive stone-clad and Mediterranean Revival–influenced residences. Perched directly on Mirror Lake, the house was originally built as a grand private home, with clay tile roofing, substantial stone veneer, arched windows, and interior detailing that reflected Allen’s craftsmanship and aesthetic vision. Over time it was converted to commercial office space, but its form and historic character remained intact. Today, the property is undergoing a full restoration back to residential use as part of a larger development plan that honors Allen’s legacy: the original structure is being meticulously rehabilitated, and complementary new structures will respect its style and presence. This project not only revives a unique architectural gem in St. Petersburg’s downtown core but reconnects the home with the lakefront heritage it was meant to embody.
