St. Cecelia's Catholic Church

St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Clearwater was dedicated on Christmas Day in 1924, marking the beginning of a parish that began with fewer than 50 congregants. Over time, it grew steadily and officially became its own parish in 1929 under the leadership of its first pastor. The original structure has been expanded and renovated through the decades: by the mid-20th century, additions included a rectory, school, convent, and a wing that notably tripled the seating capacity of the sanctuary. The church’s architectural presence—with its stained glass windows, nave, and modest yet dignified design—has stood as a local landmark and spiritual center in central Pinellas County. Through its history, St. Cecelia’s has adapted to the needs of its growing and diverse congregation while retaining its fundamental character as a house of worship and community gathering place.

The church recently decided to bring its main dome back to its glorious copper finish and move away from the previously painted yellow coating. All Trades Historical Restoration oversaw the stripping and restoration of this beautiful copper dome. The team also made critical repairs to the structure’s envelope to ensure some ongoing water infiltration would no longer be an issue. All Trades also preformed some touch ups of paint and sealants to the dome area to bring the whole project together and restore its original beauty.
